Other Settings

Play Speed
To change play speed
– from “x0.6” to “x1.4”
• Press [3, PLAY] to resume normal playback.
• After you c hange the speed
– Dolb y Pro Logic II has no effect.
– Audi o output switches to 2-c hannel stereo.
– Samp ling frequency of 96 kH z is converted to
48 kHz.
• This func tion may not work depe nding on the
disc’s recording.

Advanced
Disc Review (Exc ept +R/+RW) (Except still
picture part)
Allows you to browse the disc c ontents and
start playing from the s elected position. You
can select either “In tro Mode” or “Interv al Mode”
in “Advanced Disc Review” in t he “Disc” tab
(\ page 23).
Example:
Press [3, PLAY] when you fi nd a title or program
of your choice.
• This may not w ork depending on the d isc and
the play position.
This doe s not work when playing a
playlist (\ page 18).

Cinema1 : Me llows images and enhanc es detail
in dark scenes.
Cinema2 : Sha rpens images and enhan ces
detail in dark scenes.
Animation : Suitabl e for anima tion.
Dynamic : Enhanc es the contrast for pow erful
images.
User : Press [ENTER] to sele ct “Picture
Adjustment” (\ see belo w).
Picture Adjustment
Contrast : Increases the con trast
between light and dar k parts
of the picture.
Brightness : Brightens t he picture.
Sharpness : Adju sts the sharpness of th e
edges of horizontal li nes.
Colour : Adjusts the shade o f the
picture’s color.
Gamma : Adjusts the brightness of
dark parts.
Depth Enhancer : Redu ces the rough noise
in the background to give a
greater feeling of depth.
Video Output
Mode
To select suitable pic ture quality with yo ur
television
(Video recordings w ill be converted to, an d
output as, high-defi nition video.)
When HDMI connection i s being used and “Vide o
Mode” (\ page 24, “HDMI” tab ) is set to “On”
*480p/576p/720p/1080p (progressive)
*480i/576i/1080i (interlace)
• Selec t a video output with an “ ” mark. The “
mark shows that the video o utput is accepta ble
with your television.
• Selec ting a video output wi thout an “” mark
can result in the pictur e being distorted.
If th e picture is distor ted, press and hold
[CANCEL] until the picture is d isplayed
correctly.
• Out put from the COMPONENT VIDEO OUT
terminals will be “480i” or “ 576i”.
When HDMI connection i s not being used and
“Video Mode” (\ page 24, “ HDMI” tab) is set to
“Off”
*480p/576p (progressive)
*480i/576i (interlace)
When you select “xxx*p” (progressive) and a
confi rmation screen appears, select “ Yes” only if
connecting to a progr essive output comp atible
television.
* The numbers dis played depend on the dis c
being played. One of the abo ve numbers is
displayed.
