What is VIERA Link “HDAVI Control”?

VIERA Link “HDAVI Control” is a convenien t function that offer s
linked operations of this un it, and a Panasonic televis ion (VIERA)
under “HDAVI Control”. You can use this functi on by connecting
the equipment with the HDMI c able. See the operatin g instructions
for connected equipm ent for operational det ails.
VIERA Link “HDAVI Control”, based on the cont rol functions
provided by HDMI which is an ind ustry standard know n as
HDMI CEC (Consumer Electroni cs Control), is a unique
function that we have develop ed and added. As such, its
operation with other ma nufacturers’ equipme nt that supports
HDMI CEC cannot be guaranteed.
This unit supports “ HDAVI Control 2” function.
The TV with “HDAVI Control 2” func tion enables the followi ng
operation:
VIERA Link Control only with T V’s remote control (for “HDAVI
Control 2”) (\ see ri ght)
“HDAVI Control 2” is the newest sta ndard (current as of Feb ruary,
2007) for Panasonic’s HDAVI Control compat ible equipment.
This standard is compa tible with Panasonic’s conve ntional
HDAVI equipment.
Preparation
• Confi rm that the HDMI connection (\ page 9) has been made.
• Set “ VIERA Link” to “On” (\ page 24, “HDMI” t ab).
• To complet e and activate the connec tion correctly, turn on all
VIERA Link “HDAVI Control” compatib le equipment and set
the television to the corre sponding HDMI input mod e for the
home theater system.
• Whe never the connection or set tings are changed, rec onfi rm
the points above.

One Touch Play

You can turn on the home theater system an d television, and
start playing the disc in t he play position with a sing le press of
a button.
Theater speakers will be au tomatically activated ( \ see below).

This function also work s if you press [3, PLAY] on the home
theater remote control du ring home theater standby m ode.
Note
• Play back may not be immediatel y displayed on the televis ion. If
you miss the beginning por tion of playback, pre ss [ ] or [1]
to go back to where playback started.

Auto input switching

• Whe n you switch the television inp ut to:
– T V tuner mode, the home theater syste m will automatically
switch to “AUX ”.
– HDMI in put mode for the home theater sy stem, the home
theater system will automatic ally switch to “DVD/CD” if it i s
in “AUX” mode.

When you start disc play, the televi sion will automatically s witch
to the HDMI input mode for the hom e theater system.

Speaker control

You can select whether audio is o utput from the home theater
system or the television spea kers by using the television menu
settings. For details, re fer to the operating instru ctions of your
television.
Home Cinema
Theater speakers are acti ve.
• Whe n the home theater system is in stan dby mode,
changing the television sp eakers to theater speakers i n the
television menu will autom atically turn the home thea ter
system on and select “AUX ” as the source.
• The te levision speakers are auto matically muted.
• You can con trol the volume setting us ing the volume or
mute button on the TV’s remote c ontrol. (The volume level is
displayed on the main unit’s FL di splay.)
• To cancel m uting, you can also use the home t heater remote
control (\ page 13).
• If you t urn off the home theater system, tel evision speakers
will be automatically activated.
TV
Television speakers are active.
• The vo lume of the home theater system is set t o “0”.
– Thi s function works only whe n “DVD/CD” or “AUX ” is
selected as the source o n the home theater system.
• Aud io output is 2-channel audi o.
•
When switching betwee n the theater and television sp eakers,
the TV screen may be blank for s everal seconds.

Power off link

When the television is turne d off, the home theater system
goes into standby mode automatically.
• Thi s function works only whe n “DVD/CD” or “AUX ” is
selected as the source o n the home theater system.
• Whe n the television is turned on, the h ome theater system
does not turn on automatic ally. (Power on link is not
available.)
Note
Only the home theater system t urns off when you press [ y] for
shutting it down. Othe r connected equip ment compatible wi th
VIERA Link “HDAVI Control” stay on.

VIERA Link Control only with TV’s remote control

(for “HDAVI Control 2”)

You can control the disc menus of the h ome theater system
with the TV’s remote control w hen using the “DVD/CD” sourc e.
When operating the TV’s remo te control, refer to the below
illustration for operati on buttons.
1. Select the theater op eration menu by using
the television menu sett ings.
(For details, refer to the op erating
instructions of your tel evision.)

• De pending on the menu, some b utton operations c annot be
