Depending on the content being recorded, the recording times may become shorter than indicated.

Note:

When recording to DVD-RAM using “EP (8 H)” mode, play may not be possible on DVD players that are compatible with DVD-RAM. In this case use “EP (6 H)” mode.

FR (Flexible Recording Mode) (See right)

The unit automatically selects a recording rate between XP and EP (8 H) that will enable the recordings to fit in the available recording time on the disc with the best possible recording quality.

You can set when programming timer recordings.

All the recording modes from XP to EP appear in the display.

Selecting audio to record

RAM DVD-R

Select whether to record the main or secondary audio type (SAP) when recording to DVD-R or DVD-RAM. (You cannot change secondary audio when recording audio to DVD-R or DVD-RAM from an external source.) (p. 69)

Flexible Recording (FR)

The unit calculates a recording rate that enables the recording to fit in the time you set (within the remaining time on the disc) with the best picture quality.

The recording mode becomes FR mode.

Note:

It is not possible to change channel or recording mode while Flexible Recording is paused.
