Starting from a selected item

RAM DVD-R DVD-A DVD-V VCD CD MP3

Starting play from a selected title, chapter or track.

1 Press NUMBER keys to select the item during play or while stopped.

e.g., 5: [0] → [5] 15: [1] → [5]

MP3

e.g., 5: [0] → [0] → [5]

15:[0] → [1] → [5]

115:[1] → [1] → [5]

Notes:

•This may not work with some discs.

•This works only when stopped (screen saver is displayed on the television) with some discs.

•DVD-A

-A group number can be specified while the screen saver is displayed. e.g., 5: [5]

-Playing bonus groups

Some discs contain bonus groups. If a password screen appears after selecting a group, enter the password with the NUMBER keys and press ENTER. Refer also to the disc’s jacket.

Slow-motion playback

1 Press ►► FF/SLOW or ◄◄ REW/SLOW while paused.

•On the unit, hold down ►►Ι or Ι◄◄.

•When slow motion play is continued for about 5 minutes it pauses automatically.

To return to normal speed

Press PLAY/×1.3.

Notes:

•The speed increases up to 5 steps.

•Press PLAY to restart play.

•VCD Backward slow-motion (◄◄) does not work.

Quick View

RAM (Only with Dolby Digital)

The play speed can be increased without distorting the audio.

1 Press and hold PLAY/×1.3 during play.

To return to normal speed

Press PLAY/×1.3.

Notes:

•Output is in PCM when using a digital connection. (p. 18)

•This is cancelled when you perform skip, pause, or when play reaches a point where a program recorded in sound other than Dolby Digital starts.

•This does not work if the setting is “Off” in “Search Audio & PLAY ×1.3”. (p. 69)

•This does not work when recording is in XP or FR mode during simultaneous recording and play. (p. 42).

Frame-by-frame viewing

1 Press FRAME ΙΙ► or FRAME ◄ΙΙ while paused.

To return to normal speed

Press PLAY/×1.3.

Notes:

•Each press shows the next frame.

•Press PLAY to restart play.

• VCD Backward frame-by-frame (◄ΙΙ) does not work.

•Whether pictures are advanced by “Frame” or “Field” is selected automatically. (pp. 68, 70)

Displaying the television image as a picture-in-picture

RAM DVD-R

1 Press TIME SLIP during play.

•The unit displays the television image as a picture-in-picture.

•You will hear the playback audio.

•Press TIME SLIP again to cancel.

•Time Slip becomes unavailable if any V-Chip setting is made in the LOCK item of the SET UP.

To show the play images in full

Press TIME SLIP.

Skipping the specified time (Time Slip)

1 Press TIME SLIP during play.

2 Press ▲▼ to select the time while the indication is displayed.

•The time indicator will go off after about 5 seconds, but will turn on again when you set the indicator.

•Press ▲▼ to alter in one-minute units. Press and hold ▲▼ to alter in 10-minute units.

3 Press ENTER.

• Play skips the specified time.

Note:

• DVD-RTime Slip is not possible during recording.
