Using the High-speed Sync Flash

With an AF540FGZ or AF360FGZ flash unit, you can discharge a flash to take a picture at a shutter speed faster than 1/180 seconds.

1Remove the cover of the hot shoe, and attach the external flash.

2Set the mode dial to b or a.

3Turn on the camera and the external flash.

4Set the external flash sync mode to HSb (high-speed sync).

5Make sure that the external flash is fully charged, and then take a picture.

The b will light in the viewfinder or Live View screen when the flash is ready (fully charged).

High-speed sync is available only when the shutter speed is set faster than 1/180 sec.

High-speed sync is not available in p mode.

High-speed sync is not available with the built-in flash.
