This unit not only plays back the contents on internal HDD, DVD, or CD, but also offers features for you to record on HDD or DVD and edit them after that. The following features are offered with this unit.

Recording

This unit allows you to record on the HDD, a DVD+RW/- RW (rewritable) and a DVD+R/-R (one-time write). You can choose any one for your convenience. Even if you choose DVD-RW/-R, these discs will automatically be recorded in the DVD+VR mode.

Up to 36 program recording:

You can program the unit to record up to 36 programs within a one-month period. Daily or weekly program recordings are also available.

One-touch timer recording (OTR):

You can easily set a recording time as you prefer. Every time [REC I] is pressed during recording, the recording time will be increased by 30 minutes up to 6 hours. The record- ing automatically stops when the recording time you set is reached or the disc is full.

Automatic chapter mark setting:

Chapter marks will be put on recordings as you set before attempting to record.

Automatic title list making:

The unit makes a title list with the index automatically.

Theater surround sound in your home:

When connecting the unit to an amplifier or a decoder which is compatible with Dolby Digital, you can experience the theat- er surround sound from discs with surround sound system.

Quick search for what you want to watch:

You can easily find the part you want to watch using the search functions. You can search for a desired point by title, chapter or time.

Virtual surround system:

You can enjoy stereophonic space through your existing 2 channel stereo system.

Variable skip:

You can skip forward a certain time, which is specified in “Playback” menu in advance, with one-touch while playback.

Variable replay:

You can skip back a certain time, which is specified in “Playback” menu in advance, with one-touch while playback.

Playing back MP3/Windows Media™ Audio/JPEG files recorded in a USB device.

HDD

160 GB hard disc:

This unit is equipped with a 160GB hard disc which allows you to record up to 198 hours (with SLP mode).

Pause live TV:

With [PAUSE LIVE TV] button, you can virtually pause and resume the live TV broadcast.

DVD

Alternate recording:

If there is no recordable disc in the unit, if the disc does not have enough space to complete the recording, or if the material is “copy-once” program and prohibited to be recorded on a DVD, the unit will detect it and automatically record to the HDD even when DVD is selected as the record- ing media.

This feature is available only for timer recording. Not avail- able for one-touch timer recording.

Dubbing

With this unit, you can enjoy bi-directional dubbing between HDD and DVD.

High speed dubbing (HDD DVD only):

This feature offers you the dubbing speed of 12 times the SLP mode dubbing at the maximum.

Just dubbing (HDD DVD only):

When dubbing from HDD to DVD, if you set the recording mode to “Auto”, the recording mode will automatically be adjusted so the titles will fit nicely in the remaining space of the disc.

DV dubbing:

This function helps you to easily dub the contents of the DVC (digital video camcorder) to HDD/DVD.

Time shift playback:

You can play back a title being recorded from the beginning while recording continues.

Playing back MP3/Windows Media™ Audio/JPEG/DivX® files:

You can enjoy MP3/Windows Media™ Audio/JPEG/DivX® files which are recorded on CD-RW/-R.

DivX® files can also be recorded on DVD+RW/+R or DVD-RW/-R.

You can delete a title which you do not need anymore.

Putting names on titles:

You can put your favorite names on titles.

Setting / clearing chapter marks:

You can set / clear chapter marks on titles.

You can delete a scene from a title as you like.

Hiding chapters:

To keep others from playing back some chapters without permission, you can hide chapters.

Setting an Index Pictures:
