A system that cr eates realistic, th ree-
dimensional sou nd fi elds. It is usually a chieved
with multiple s peakers that are ar ranged
around the listener.

Title
On commercial DVDs , this is the longest
section of a movie or m usic feature on DVD.
Each title is ass igned a title number, so that
you can locate the ti tle you want.
When you record pr ograms, they are st ored
as titles. De pending on the recordin g settings,
recorded tit les may automatically con tain
several chapter s.

Multichannel
Usually DVD is specifi ed to have each sound
track constitute one sound fi eld. Multichannel
refers to a str ucture of sound trac ks having
three or more cha nnels.

Parental control
A function of the DVD t o limit playback of the
disc by the age of the user s according to the
limitation le vel in each country. The limi tation
varies from dis c to disc; when it is activ ated,
playback will be pro hibited if the soft ware’s
level is higher than t he user-set level.
PBC
Playback Control . A system where you
navigate through a V ideo CD/Super VCD with
on-screen men us that are recorded on to the
disc. You can enjoy intera ctive playback and
search.
PCM
Pulse Code Modulat ion. A digital audio
encoding system.

Region code
A system that al lows discs to be played only
in the region desi gnated. This unit only p lays
discs that have compa tible region codes. You
can fi nd the regi on code of your unit on the
product labe l. Some discs are compati ble with
more than one reg ion (or ALL regions.)
S
S-Video
An analog video con nection. It is capab le of
transmit ting clear picture qua lity by sending
separate signa ls for luminance and colour to
the connected d evice. You can use S-Video
only if your TV has a n S-Video In socket.
