Changing Batteries
Avoidopening the sealed battery cover during the
guaranteeperiod. We recommend that you have the
batteryreplaced by an authorized Polar Service Center.
Theytest your Polar FT40 for water resistance after
batteryreplacement and make a full periodic check.
Pleasenote the following:
Thelow battery indicator is displayed when 10-15% of
thebattery capacity is left.
Beforebattery change, transfer all data from your FT40
topolarpersonaltrainer.com to avoid data loss. For more
informationsee Transfer Data.
Excessiveuse of the backlight drains the battery more
rapidly.
Incold conditions, the low battery indicator may appear,
butwill disappear when the temperature rises.
Thebacklight and sound are automatically turned off
whenthe low battery indicator is displayed. Any alarms
setprior to the appearance of the low battery indicator
willremain active.
Tochange the battery yourself:
Changethe sealing ring of the battery cover every time you
changethe battery. You can purchase the sealing
ring/batterykits at well-equipped Polar retailers and
authorizedPolar Services. In the USA and Canada, the
additionalsealing rings are available at authorized Polar
ServiceCenters only. Keep the batteries away from
children.If swallowed, contact a doctor immediately.
Batteriesshould be disposed of properly according to local
regulations.
Whenhandling a new, fully charged battery, avoid
clasp-likecontact, i.e. simultaneously from both sides,
withmetal or electrically conducting tools, like tweezers.
Thismay short circuit the battery, causing it to discharge
morerapidly. Typically, short circuiting does not damage
thebattery, but may decrease the capacity and thus the
lifetimeof the battery.
