If the portable will not turn on or if the message LOW BATTERY appears on the display, the battery pack needs recharging. To recharge the NiCd battery pack, use a cable and an external 9-volt power adapter (refer to Figure D-1 on page 109). A full charge takes about eight hours.

To recharge the NiCd battery pack, complete the following steps:

1.If the portable is on, turn it off.

2.One of the connectors on the cable has the cable number on it. Plug that connector into the cable input jack on the bottom of the portable.

Caution: Use only a power adapter supplied by a PSC dealer.

Using another adapter can damage the unit.

3.Attach the small, round plug of the 9-volt power adapter to the round power input jack on the cable connector labeled COMPUTER. Plug the other end into an outlet or power strip.

Use the PT Dock to recharge the NiCd batteries. Leave the batteries in the unit while it is in the Dock. The batteries recharge while the READY light is on. (Make sure Switch 2 in the portable’s battery compartment is in the NiCd position; refer to Figure E-1.)
