Storing the NiCd Battery Pack
The portable contains a lithium battery as a backup to save application program codes, collected data and system information, including the clock setting. Under most circumstances, a fully charged backup battery will keep information for at least 10 days if the main batteries are completely discharged or removed. This should provide sufficient time to recharge the battery pack without risk of losing data.
The backup battery is recharged whenever a charged battery pack is installed as well as when the power supply is connected.
If the lithium battery is allowed to discharge, any application program code that is resident in the random-access memory will be lost, Consequently, when a charged battery pack is installed and the unit is turned ON, it is likely that the operating system will detect the corrupted application code and will display a PROGRAM FAILED message.

Batteries

It is best to charge the battery pack at or slightly below room temperature. Always charge the battery within the temperature range of 50°–85°F (10°–30°C).

Storing the NiCd Battery Pack

The battery pack can be stored indefinitely, regardless of its charge state. Store it between -22° and 122°F (-30° to 50°C). Stored batteries lose about ten percent of their charge per month when they are kept at room temperature. Batteries stored at higher temperatures discharge at a faster rate.
