Turningthe phone on

1. Make sure that the battery is charged and properly installed (see
Battery chargers,page 54, and Battery replacement, page 55).
2. Press andhold until the indicatorlight illuminates (about one
second). The phone is now in stan dby mode (see Standby mode, p age 9)
and starts lookingfor servic e. The messaget hatdisplays on the screen
depends on the service mode selected (seeM anualMode, page 49).

Turningthe phone off

1. Pressand hold until “PoweringOff” displays.
2. Release .
Note
Ifyou press forless than one second, the phone does not turn
off.

Standby mode

After you turn the phone on,i tis in standby mode while it looks for and
finds service.The following screens show the messagethat displays when
looking for service depending on the service mode selected(see Manual
Mode, page49):
After yourphone finds service, your banner, the date andtime, and the
appropriate icons display.
Note
The date and timem aynot be available in all modes of service.
