Do not format the storage media on a PC or other device.
Make sure to format the storage media on this camcorder.
If there is no memory card in your camcorder, you can not select Format. It will be dimmed in the
menu.
You must format storage media you used in other devices or newly purchased memory cards with
this camcorder before using them. This enables stable speeds and operation when the camcorder
accesses the storage media.
Be aware that formatting erases all fi les and data including protected fi les.

Do not remove the storage media or perform any other operation (such as turning off the power)
during formatting. Also, be sure the battery is suffi ciently charged. The storage media can be
corrupted if the battery becomes exhausted during formatting.
If the storage media becomes corrupted, format it again.

Format
The format function deletes all fi les (including protected fi les) and options on the storage media.
You can also use this function if you want to correct problems with the storage media.

1. Press the MENU button.
2. Touch the "Settings " “Format.”
A message appears asking for your confi rmation.
3. Touch the “Yes”p “Yes.”
The camcorder formats the storage media and displays a
formatting message.
