BASIC BAND SAW/SANDER OPERATION

A band saw is basically a "curve cutting" machine. It is no_
capable of doing inside cutting.
Your Craftsman Band Saw/Sander is no_ only capable of
the usual band saw operations, out it can he converted into
a sander as well. You can finish wood, certain compositions
and plastics and non-ferrous metals.
It is also used for stra ght-line cutting operations such as
crosscutting, ripping, mitering, beveling, compound cutting,
and resawing.

SAWING

WARNING: ADJUST THE UPPER GUIDES TO CLEAR

THE WORKPIECE.

1. Use both hands while feeding the work into the blade.
Hold the workpiece firmly against the table. Use gentle
pressure, and do notforce the work, but allow the blade
to cut.
2. The smallest diameter that can be cut out is determined
by the width of the blade. For example, a 1/4" wide
blade will cut a minimum diameter of approximately
1-1/2". CSee Chart)

SANDING
The sanding belt cuts very rapidly. Practice with some
scraps of wood first before you attempt to sand your
actual workpiece.
1. Press the workpiece gently against the sanding belt,
and keep moving it until the edge issmooth.
