Sonos Setup Using Controller

If you don’t have digital music stored on your computer, or don’t use Windows® or Macintosh OS X® operating systems, you can put the Sonos System Setup CD away in a safe place and use the handheld Sonos Controller to set up your Sonos Multi-Room Music System.

Note: If you have just purchased a new Sonos Controller, you should charge the battery. Connect your Sonos Controller to the power adapter using the adapter cable. You can use your Controller while it is charging.

If you do have digital music stored on a computer or a network-attached storage (NAS) device, the computer directories or folders that contain your music files must be shared so that the Sonos Multi-Room Music System can access them. Before you begin, enable file sharing on each computer that holds the music files you want to access. The Sonos Multi-Room Music System will recognize many standard shared folders on your computer or network-attached storage (NAS) device. System Setup Using the Controller

Step 1: Connect a Sonos component to your router

Connect one ZonePlayer or ZoneBridge to your router using a standard Ethernet cable (included), and then apply power.

If you have structured (built-in) wiring that connects to a router located elsewhere in your home, you can connect the Ethernet cable from a live wall plate into one of the Ethernet switch connectors on the back of your Sonos component.)
