xInstalling the USB driver

First,in stall the USB driver to the computer. The USB driver is contained together

withapplication software for viewing images on a CD-ROM which is supplied with

yourcam era.

Ifthe drive is not r ecognized properly, see “Troubleshooting” on page 77.

For Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows Me and Windows

2000 Professional users

Donot connect yourc amera to your computer before installing the

USBdriver.

1Makes ure that the camera is not connected to your computer.

Donot conn ect the USB cable in this step.

2Turnon your computer and allow Windows to load.

3Insertth e supplied CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive of your computer.

Theapplication software screenappears.

4Click“USB Driver Installation for Windows 98/98SE, Windows Me,

Windows 2000”.

USBdriver installation starts.

5Followthe o n-screen messages to install the USB driver.

Ifthe message appears after the installation to verify that you restart the

computer,restart th e computer.

6Connect the USB jack (mini-B) on yourcam era with the USB

connector on yourc omputer using the supplied USB cable.

7Insert a floppy disk or a “Memory Stick”intoyour camera, and set

theMS/F D selector to the appropriate position according to the

mediainse rted.

8Connect the AC power adaptor and turn on your camera.

“USBMODE”appears on the LC D screen of your camera and the camera is set

tocommu nication standby mode. Your computer recognizes the camera, and

theWindows Add Hardware Wizardstarts.
