5. Setting up■First, remove the blue semi-transparent tape from all parts.
5-1. Loading the Paper Roll
The procedure for loading a paper roll is as follows. The illustrations show the
TSP412Z printer. However, the loading procedure for the TSP442Z is the same.

■Before loading the first paper roll, be
sure to remove the cardboard and the
protective paper (under the tear bar)
that were inserted to protect the print
head during shipping.
1Switch off the printer’s power.
2Open the printer cover.
3Cut the top edge of the paper straight
across. If the paper end is secured to
the roll by a label or by tape, unroll
the paper one turn and cut away all
traces of adhesive. (Adhesive can
stick to the internal paper roller and
interfere with paper feeding.)
4Insert the paper-roll shaft into the
paper roll.
