Command Denition
start-domain Startsa domain. If the domain directory is not specied, the domain in the
defaultinstall_dir/domains directory is started. If there are two or more
domains,the domain_name operand must be specied.
stop-domain Stopsthe Domain Administration Server of the specied domain.
restore-domain Restoresles under the domain from a backup directory.
list-domains Liststhe domain. If the domain directory is not specied, the domain in the
defaultinstall_dir/domains directory is listed. If there is more than one
domain,the domain_name operand must be specied.
backup-domain Backsup les under the named domain.
login Letsyou log in to a domain. If various application server domains are created
onvarious machines (locally), asadmin invocation from any of these machines
canmanage the domains located elsewhere (remotely). This comes in handy
especiallywhen a particular machine is chosen as an administration client and
itmanages multiple domains and servers. asadmin commands that are used to
managedomains located elsewhere are called remote commands. The asadmin
logincommand eases the administration of such remote domains. The login
commandruns only in the interactive mode. It prompts you for the admin user
nameand password. On successful login, the le .asadminpass will be created
inthe user's home directory. This is the same le that is modied during the
create-domaincommand while using the --savelogin option. The domain
mustbe running for this command to run.
create-instance Createsa new server instance residing on a local or remote machine.
delete-instance Deletesthe server instance. This command can be run remotely or locally. The
userauthenticates using the password identied for the administration server.
Additionally,the instance must already exist within the domain served by the
administrationserver. Use this command with discretion since it is destructive
andcannot be undone.

Thelist and status commands display the status of a deployed component.

show-component-status Getsthe status of the deployed component. The status is a string representation
returnedby the server. The possible status strings include status of app-name is
enabledor status of app-name is disabled.
