SPICY BARBEQUE SAUCE
Makes about 2 cups
45g butter or margarine
1 small onion, chopped finely
1 teaspoon finely chopped ginger
2 teaspoons plain flour
1 cup tomato sauce
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup vinegar
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon chilli sauce Freshly ground black pepper
Melt butter in cooking vessel on No. 2; fry onion and ginger for 2 minutes. Add flour and stir continuously for 1 minute. Add remaining ingredients; increase heat to No. 5 and heat to boiling, stirring continuously. Reduce heat to Simmer and cook for 15 minutes. Serve sauce hot or cold with your favourite barbecued steak, sausage, etc.
