Pl ug-i n Installation and Removal

Turn the power mo dule off before inserting or removing the plug-in; otherwise, damage may occur to the pl ug-incircuitry.

The DC 505, DC 505Α and LΑ501 W plug-ins are not compatible with this power module .

Check to see that t he plastic barriers on the i nter- co nnecti ng j ac k of the selected power module compart- ment match t he cuto uts i n the pl u g-i n circuit board edge co nnector. The rig ht-most compartment isthe high power com partment. Alig n t he plug-i n chassis wit h t he upper and lower g uides (see Fig . 2-10) of t he selected compart ment. Pus h t he plug-i n chassis i n and press fi rmly to seat the

circuit board edge co nnector in t he i nterconnecti ng jack. Turn the power module on .

Family Compatibility

Mechanically, TM 5000 pl ug-i n modules are ve ry si milar to other Tektronix product families . However, they are not electrically compatible . Therefore, the TM 5006 interface has barriers on the mati n g con nectors between pins β and 7 to ensure that i ncompati ble pl ug-i ns ca nnot

be i nserted . See Fig . 2-11 . Α com pati ble module will have a matching slot between pins 6 an d 7 of its main circuit board edge connector. This slot and ba rr ie r com bi nation is t he primary keyi ng assignment.

Customizi ng t he I nterface

The modularity of this i nstrumentation system provides for many diffe rent functio ns to be performed by the plug- in mo dules. S pecific functions are grouped i ntofamil ϊes or classes, of which there may be several pl ug-i n m od ule mem bers. For i nstance, some classes are Power Supplies, Signal Sources, M easurement, and sofort h.
