CALIBRATION

PERFORMAN CE CHECK PROCEDURE

Introduction

This procedure checks the Elect rical Performance R eq uirements as listed i n the Specificatio n sectio n in this manual . Perform the i nternal adj ustment procedure if the

instrument failsto meetthese checks. If recali bration does not correct the discrepancy . circuit troubleshooting is i ndicated. Also, use this procedure to determi ne accep- tability of performance in an i ncomi ng i nspection facility.

Performance check may be do ne at any ambient temperature between 0° C and +500 C.

Test Equipment Required

The test equipment listed in Table 4-1, or equivalent, is suggested to perfo rm the performance chec k i n the adjustment procedure.

Test Loads for the Performance Check Procedure

To do the performance check procedure, t he supplies m ust be loaded. Maximum load for the +8 V supply is 18Α and fo r the 26 V supplies 6Α. Maximum dissi pation from these loads is 144 W and 156 W. The total power draw from any combinatio n of the +8 V and ±26 V supplies is

180 W or 30 W per compartment. Fig ur e 4-1 shows suggested loads. Any combi nations of resisto rs wit h sufficie nt dissipatio n is satisfactory. Connect t he loads to the i nstrument with not over 1 .5 feet for each lead. Use

12AWG for the 8 V load and 16 AWG for the 26 V load. The ground lead shou ld not exceed 1 .5 feet of #12 AWG or larger. For convenience, use quick disco nnect termi nals to connect the loads to the voltage buses i n the i nstrument (Tektronix Part No . 131-1563-00) .

Load fo r ±26 V suppl ies. Use four 1 Ω 55W 5ο/ο resi stors in series (Tektronix Part Number 308-0097-00).

All 0.3 Ω

Load for +8 V supply. Use 12 0.3 Ω 25 W 5ο/ο res i stors as shown (Tektronix Part Number 308-0691-00) .
