ConnectaUSBkeyboardtooneofthecomputer’sUSBports,andthenbootthecomputer. Thecomputerautomaticallydetectstheexternalkeyboard.
Iftheexternalkeyboardworkscorrectly,theinternalkeyboardoritsconnectionsmaybe faulty.GotoProcedure2.
Iftheexternalkeyboardappearstohavethesameproblemastheinternalkeyboard,the systemboardmaybehavingsomeproblem.Replaceitwithanewoneandfollowingthe instructionsinChapter4.
Procedure2 Diagnosticcheck
RunthetestandDiagnosticsProgram,whichwillautomaticallyexecutetheKeyboardTest. RefertoChapter3,TestsandDiagnosticsformoreinformationonhowtoruntheprogram.
Ifanerrorislocated,gotoProcedure3.Ifanerrordoesnotoccur,thekeyboardis functioningok.
Procedure3 Connectorandreplacementcheck
Thekeyboardand/orsystemboardmaybedisconnectedordamaged.Disassemblethe computerfollowingthestepsdescribedinChapter4,ReplacementProceduresandperform thefollowingchecks.
Check1 Makesurethekeyboardcableisfirmlyconnectedtothesystemboard.
Iftheconnectionisloose,reconnectfirmlyandrepeatProcedure2.Ifthereisstill anerror,gotoCheck2.
Check2 Thekeyboardmaybedamaged.Replaceitwithanewonefollowingthe instructionsinChapter4.
Iftheproblemstillexists,performCheck3.
Check3 Thesystemboardmaybedamaged.Replaceitwithanewonefollowingthe instructionsinChapter4.
