General Field Wiring Guidelines

General Guidelines

All field wires must be 0.75 mm2 or greater cross section and comply with AS1670.1 and the wiring code.

Conductors must test free of all earth leakage.

All wiring must be done using copper conductors only, unless noted otherwise.

If shielded wire is used,

-the metallic continuity of the shield must be maintained throughout the entire cable length.

-the entire length of the cable must have a resistance greater than 1 Megohm to earth ground.

Underground wiring must be free of all water.

Wires that run in plenum should be in conduit.

A system ground must be provided for earth detection and lightning protection devices. This connection must comply with approved earth detection.

Only system wiring should be run together in the same conduit.

Use supplied ferrite beads with all SPS field wiring including the Aux 24V. Loop wires twice through the supplied ferrite bead(s) as shown in Figure 5-1. (Extra can be ordered as 4100-5129 – 3 beads).
