Pulley Alignment
Proper pulley alignment (see Figure 38) prevents pre-
mature belt wear. The pulleys are properly aligned when
they are parallel and in the same plane as each other.
Use a straightedge on the edge of the pulleys to judge
alignment.
Should you find that the pulleys are out of alignment,
do these steps:
1. DISCONNECT THE PLANER FROM THE POWER
SOURCE!
2. Remove the motor and front access panels, the V-
belt cover, and loosen the belt tension (Page 24).
3. Using a 14mm wrench, loosen the motor mount fas-
teners shown in Figure 39 just enough to allow the
motor to be repositioned.
4. Slide the motor as required to align the pulleys.
5. Re-tighten the motor mount fasteners.
6. Inspect V-belts for damage caused by bad pulley
alignment and replace belts as a matched set of
three if necessary.
7. Re-tension the V-belts.
8. Replace the V-belt cover, motor and front access
panels.
