24 Welcome to the MD4S

H MIDI IN, OUT, THRU connectors

These connectors are used to exchange MIDI messages with external MIDI devices.

 

 

MIDI OUT connector

MIDI Clock and MIDI Time Code (MTC) is output from this

 

 

connector. This is used when synchronizing the MD4S with a

 

 

MIDI sequencer or rhythm machine.

 

 

 

 

MIDI IN connector

MTC or MMC (MIDI Machine Control) is received at this

 

 

connector. This is used when controlling the transport of the

 

 

MD4S from an external MIDI sequencer.

 

 

 

 

MIDI THRU connector

MIDI messages received at the MIDI IN connector are

 

 

 

 

retransmitted without change from this connector to another

 

 

external MIDI device.

A PHONES jack

 

 

 

 

 

A pair of stereo headphones can be connected here for

 

 

 

 

monitoring. This jack will output the same signal as the

 

 

 

 

MONITOR OUT jacks.

 

 

 

 

 

B PUNCH I/O jack

 

 

 

 

 

A Yamaha FC5 (sold separately) can be connected here,

allowing you to use a foot switch to start/pause playback, start/pause rehearsal, or punch-in/out. (See “Using a Foot switch” on page 89 for more information.)
