DSCP is backward compatible with the three precedence bits in the ToS octet so that non- DiffServ compliant, ToS-enabled network device will not conflict with the DSCP mapping.

The DSCP value determines the forwarding behavior, the PHB (Per-Hop Behavior), that each packet gets across the DiffServ network. Based on the marking rule, different kinds of traffic can be marked for different priorities of forwarding. Resources can then be allocated according to the DSCP values and the configured policies.

16.12.2 Media Bandwidth Management Class Configuration

Configure a bandwidth management class in the Class Configuration screen. You must use the Media Bandwidth Management - Summary screen to enable bandwidth management on an interface before you can configure classes for that interface.

Refer to Section 16.1 on page 160 for more information.

To add a child class, click Media Bandwidth Management, then Class Setup. Click the Add Child-Classbutton to open the following screen.
