Cleaning the guide bar

CAUTION: Protective gloves must be worn.

Regularly inspect the bearing surfaces of the guide bar Tor damage, and clean them with a suitable tool.

Replacing the saw chain

CAUTION: Use only chains and guide bars designed for

this saw (see the Extract from the spare-parts list)!

Check the sprocket before mountmg a new chain.

Worn out sprockets (12) may damage the new chain and must therefore be replaced.

Remove the sprocket guard (1) (See "PUTTING INTO OPE- RATION" figs. 6).

Remove the chain and guide bar. Remove circlip (13).

CAREFUL: The circlip will jump out of the groove unless you hold it down with your thumb while removing it.

Remove thrust washers (14 and 15).

Replacethe old sprocket (12) with a new one (16). For the part number consult the "Extract from the spare parts list".

Assemble the new sprocket, thrust washers and circlip.

For replacingthe guide bar, chain, and sprocketsee "PUTTING INTO OPERATION A-H".

NOTE:

New chains stretch, so check the chain tension frequently (see "Checking the chain tension").

Replacing the suction head

The felt filter (17) of the suction head can become clogged. It is recommended to replace the suction head once every three months in order to ensure unimpeded fuel flow to the carburetor.

To removethe suction head for replacement, pull it out through the tank filler neck using a piece of wire bent at one end to form a hook.
