Lors de I’abattage,respectez une distance d’au moins 2 fois et demi la hauteur de I’arbre entre I’arbre et la personne la plus proche (cf. fig. 17).

Remarque: Tout avertissement peut etre couvert par le bruit de votre moteur.

Si I’arbrea de grosses racines laterales, coupez dans les plus grandes racines, d’abord verticalement puis horizontalement et enlevez le morceau ainsi decoupe (fig. 20).

Degagez dans un premier temps la base de I’arbre et la zone de travail des branches et broussailles g6nan- tes et nettoyez la partie inferieure de I’arbre a la hache (cf. fig. 18).

Etablissez ensuite une voie de repli et degagez-la de tous les obstacles. Cette voie doit 6tre opposee a la direction prevue de la chute de I’arbre et avoir un angle de 45 O (fig. 19).IIfaut aussi choisir une seconde voie. Placez tous les outils et I’ensemble du materiel en securite a une distance suffisante de I’arbre mais pas sur la voie de repli.

Determinez ensuite I’emplacement de I’encoche d’abattage (,,Camembert“) (fig. 21). Lorsqu’elle est correctement positionnee, I’encoche d’abattage determine dans quelle direction I’arbreva tomber. Elle doit Qtre pratiquee perpendiculairement a la ligne de

chuteaussipresque possibledu sol. CoupezI’encoche d’abattage a une profondeur comprise entre un tiers et un quart du diametre de I’arbre (fig. 22). Elle ne doit jamais etre plus haute que profonde. Pratiquez I’encoche d’abattage avec grand soin.
