Step 6 Connect a Category 5 or 6 cable to the blinking 10/100 Ethernet port.

Connect the other end of the cable to the Ethernet port on your PC.

Wait until the port LEDs on the switch and your PC or laptop are either green or blinking green. Green LEDs mean a successful connection.

Troubleshooting

If the port LEDs are not green after about 30 seconds, make sure that:

You connected the Ethernet cable to the blinking 10/100 Ethernet port (not to an uplink port such as the dual-purpose port).

You are using a Category 5 or 6 cable and that the cable is not damaged.

The other device is turned on.

You can ping IP address 169.254.0.1 to verify the connection.
