Chapter 3: Installation

Installing the FLASH SIMM

To install a FLASH SIMM, refer to Figure 3-6 and proceed as follows:

1.Remove the chassis cover as described in Section 3.2.

2.Locate the FLASH SIMM slot. (See Figure 3-4.)

The internal components and boards associated with the ESX

!are static sensitive devices. Use the antistatic wrist band and

CAUTION	observe standard antistatic safety procedures when the cover
	is removed. Failure to do so could cause damage or severely
	limit the life expectancy of the ESX.

3.Insert the SIMM between the connector teeth in the SIMM slot.

4.Pivot the SIMM down until it locks into the clips in the SIMM slot, and the SIMM holes fit over the SIMM slot posts.
