SIMM Upgrades

Installing the SDRAM or LDRAM SIMM

To install an SDRAM or LDRAM SIMM, refer to Figure 3-7 and proceed as follows:

1.Remove the chassis cover as described in Section 3.2.

2.Locate the SDRAM or LDRAM SIMM slot as shown in Figure 3-4.

The internal components and boards associated with the ESX

!are static sensitive devices. Use the antistatic wrist band and

observe standard antistatic safety procedures when the cover

 

 

is removed. Failure to do so could cause damage or severely

 

limit the life expectancy of the ESX.

3.Insert the SIMM between the connector teeth in the SIMM slot.

4.Pivot the SIMM back until it locks into the clips in the SIMM slot, and the SIMM holes fit over the SIMM slot posts. (See Figure 3-7.)
