Installing the DC Power Supply

Caution: To prevent equipment damage, do not install AC and DC power supplies in the same chassis.

Precaución: Para evitar que el equipo se dañe, no utilice las fuentes de poder CC y CA en el mismo chasis.

When you receive your Enterasys Matrix™ X chassis, a coverplate will be in place over all power supply slots except PS1. This slot is left open for your convenience when installing the first power supply.

Power supplies are installed in slots located along the right‐front side of Enterasys Matrix™ X16‐C and X8‐C chassis, or along the bottom of the Enterasys Matrix™ X4‐C chassis. The location of the power supply slots in the Enterasys Matrix™ X8‐C chassis is shown in Figure 1‐3. If you intend to install only a single power supply, it can be installed in any of the power supply slots, although slot PS1 is left open for your convenience.

Note: The illustrations for the following procedure use the Enterasys Matrix™ X8-C chassis. The procedure is the same for the Enterasys Matrix™ X16-C and Enterasys Matrix™ X4-C chassis, although the location of the power supply slots is different for the Enterasys Matrix™ X4-C.

A Phillips screwdriver is required to install the DC Power Supply in an Enterasys Matrix™ X chassis.

To install DC power supplies in your Enterasys Matrix™ X chassis:

1.Attach the ESD wrist strap shipped with your Enterasys Matrix™ X chassis to your wrist and plug the cable from the ESD wrist strap into the ESD grounding receptacle on your chassis.
