Install the Cable Modem

This section describes how to connect your cable modem to support the services that the cable modem offers.

Connect Devices to the Cable Modem

The following illustration shows all of the possible connections that can be made to your cable modem for various services. Although your model may not support all of the services pictured, you can determine which services your model supports by referring to the Benefits and Features list in Introduction (on page 2).

Note: Professional installation may be available. Contact your local service provider for further assistance.

Connect the Cable Modem

The following installation procedure ensures proper setup and configuration for the cable modem.

1Choose an appropriate and safe location to install the cable modem (close to a power source, an active cable connection, your PC—if using high-speed Internet, and your telephone lines—if using VoIP). For assistance, go to Where Is the Best Location for My Cable Modem? (on page 13).
