You can register only one Distinctive Ring pattern with the fax machine. Some ring patterns cannot be registered.

The fax machine will answer only calls to its registered number.

To have your TAD answer only the main number, the fax machine must be in Manual Mode.

In FAX/TEL or FAX ONLY mode, the fax machine will answer all numbers on the phone line.

The first two rings are silent on the fax machine and on a telephone or TAD connected to its EXT jack.

Registering the Distinctive Ring Pattern

1If you have Voice Mail from the Telephone Company, you must disconnect it now (temporarily).

2Disconnect the fax machine from any TAD or external telephone answering device.

3Set the fax machine to MANUAL mode.

4Press Function , 0 , 1 . The screen displays the current setting of this feature.

to select the DISTINCTIVE:SET?

mode and press Set .

6Press or to select the prestored ring pattern you want to assign and press Set . (You will hear each pattern as you scroll through

the four patterns.) Be sure to choose the pattern assigned by the Telephone Company.
