7. Q & A

Q: Is tempered glass used in the plasma display screen?

A: No, but the screen has an AR coating that will prevent broken glass from scattering if the screen should break.

Q:Can more than one person write on the screen simultaneously?

A:No.

Q: What are the functions of the special pen?

A:It makes writing easier since it does not produce a comet-like trail. The buttons provide a number of functions that enhance ease of use.

Q:How does it interface with the PC?

A:USB 1.1.

Q: How many LEDs are there vertically and horizontally? And where are the light receiving LEDs.?

A:There are 144 vertical and 256 horizontal LEDs. The light receiving LEDs are located to the left and at the top as seen facing the front panel.

Q: Are any optional accessories required for connecting the system?

A: Yes, an RGB cable (preferably 1.5 m long) is required for connecting the plasma display to a computer.

Q:Is there a special power on/off sequence for this product?

A:No, there is not, except when a computer is connected.

Since the power must be turned off after shutting down the operating system, a computer must be turned off before the plasma display.

Q:Can power be turned off using the circuit breaker when a UPS (uninterrupted power supply) is connected?

A:Yes, if the automatic shutdown feature of the UPS is used.

Q: Is it possible to install the system at an angle?

A: There is no problem if the installation position is between vertical and 25° downward facing.

Q: How to wall-mount the system using the plasma display bracket (PDK-5005)?

A: In addition to the plasma display bracket, additional wall-mount hardware is required.

Q:Is it possible to use the table top stand (PDK-5001) for system installation on a tabletop?

A:No, it cannot be used because the handwriting device would collide with the stand base.

Q: Is it possible to use the table top stand (PDK-TS01) for system installation on a tabletop?

A:It can be used, but it is not recommended the stand may rattle when the special pen is used on it, particularly if the table is not strong enough.

Q:Is it possible to use the simplified stand provided with the PDP-504CMX, PDP-50MXE1 or PDP-50MXE1-S?

A:No, it is impossible because the simplified stand does not fit in the handwriting device.

Q:What to do if the screen image seems blurry and written characters do not look crisp?

A:Adjust the plasma display. Set the PC output to 1280 x 768 and 60 Hz.

Then check plasma screen settings. Open the “MENU” and select “SETUP”. Check that “SIGNAL FORMAT” is set to “WXGA”. (The setting toggles between “XGA”, “WXGA” and “PC AUTO”.

After completing these settings, adjust “POSITION”, “CLOCK” and “PHASE” under “SCREEN” in the “MENU”. The “AUTO SET UP MODE” does not function if the screen is dark.
