56 Playback Options

Forward and Reverse Searching

During tape playback, press and release the FF (Fast Forward) button or the REW(ind) button. A fast forward or reverse picture search will begin.

To return to playback, press the PLAY button.

Viewing a Still Picture

During tape playback, press the PAUSE/STILL button. A still picture (frozen image) will appear on-screen.

To advance the still picture frame-by-frame, press the F.(rame) ADV(ance) button.

To release the still picture and return to normal playback, press the PAUSE/STILL button or the PLAY button.

Viewing a Slow Motion Picture

During tape playback, press the SLOW button. The tape will play in slow motion.

Adjust the speed of slow motion playback by pressing the INDEX/VAR.(iable) SLOW buttons.

To return to normal playback, press the PLAY button.

Viewing Pictures in Slow to Fast Motion

First, press the JOG/SHUTTLE button while in the Play or Still mode. The JOG/SHUTTLE light will appear.

Next, turn the outer ring (the Shuttle ring) in either direction. The farther the ring is rotated, the faster the search speed. Releasing the ring stops the picture in the Still mode.

Or, turn the inner dial (the Jog Dial) in either direction. The tape will move frame-by-frame at the speed with which the dial is turned.

Press the PLAY button to release the Still mode.

Helpful Hints

During Search, Slow, and Still modes, there will be no sound.

Slow and Still modes automatically switch to Stop mode after five min- utes to protect the VCR and the tape from damage.

During Forward or Reverse Searching, noise bars will appear on-screen.

You may only view a tape in Slow Motion if the tape is recorded in SP or SLP speed.

The Jog/Shuttle Light goes off after 60 seconds if no buttons are

pressed.
