Generally the flash head must be separated from the camera by a radial distance of at least three and a half feet (1.2 meters).
If the flash is positioned closer to the camera, reflections from the license plate will cause overexposure.
If possible, position the flash head in level with the reference plane shown in Figure 9. This plane is in level with the top surface of the camera enclosure, but slices through the center of the lens.
