Achieving powerful high volume sound

With Dolby Digital, the dynamic range is compressed so that powerful sound can be achieved at regular volume levels. This compression can be cancelled to achieve an energetic sound with even greater power, like the sound in a movie theatre.

This function works only in the Dolby Digital mode.

1 Check that Defeat mode is off (page 25). 2 Press and hold TA for at least 2 seconds.

The audio processor control mode is activated.

3 Select the MULTI CH SETUP mode by pressing TA repeatedly.

When the setting is complete, it is recommended to store the setting contents. For storing, refer to page 44.

Using the Pro Logic II Mode

Pro Logic processing can be conducted on the music signals recorded on two channels to achieve Dolby Pro Logic II surround sound. For two-channel Dolby Digital and DTS signals, there is also a “REAR FILL” function for outputting the signals of the front channel to the rear channel.

1 Check that Defeat mode is off (page 25). 2 Press and hold TA for at least 2 seconds.

The audio processor control mode is activated.

3 Select the D PL II/REAR mode by pressing TA repeatedly.

4 Select the desired mode by pressing or .

MOVIE MODE:

Suits the stereo TV shows and all programs encoded in Dolby Surround. It improves the sound field directivity to near that of discrete 5.1-channel sound.

MUSIC MODE:

Can be used for all stereo music recordings, and provides a wide, deep sound field.

REAR FILL ON:

Depending on the input signals, the sound may only be output from the front speakers. In this case, the “REAR FILL” function can be used to output signals from the rear speakers as well.

OFF: Turns D PLII/REAR function to OFF.

If MUSIC MODE is selected, the centre width can be adjusted with following operations.

This function offers the optimum vocal position by adjusting the centre channel position between the centre speaker and the L/R speaker. (The adjustments established in “Adjusting the acoustic image” (page 42) are ineffective while this function is activated.)

1After pressing MODE, select MUSIC MODE and turn the Rotary encoder to select CTW CONT ON/OFF.

If ON is selected, press MODE.

If ON is set, you can enjoy the optimum vocal position by distributing the centre channel sound between the centre speaker and L/R speaker.

2After setting to ON, turn the Rotary encoder to adjust the level (LEVEL).

The level can be adjusted between 0 to 7. When the level increases, the centre channel position moves from the centre speaker position to both sides.
