Caller ID Service

Using Caller ID service

Important:

RThis unit is Caller ID compatible. To use Caller ID features, you must subscribe to a Caller ID service. Contact your service provider/telephone company for details.

Caller ID features

Handset / Base unit

When an outside call is being received, the caller information is displayed.

Caller information for the last 50 callers is logged in the caller list from the most recent call to the oldest.

RIf the unit cannot receive caller information, the following is displayed:

Out of area: The caller dials from an area which does not provide a Caller ID service.

Private caller*1 / Private*2: The caller requests not to send caller information.

RIf the unit is connected to a PBX system, caller information may not be properly received. Contact your PBX supplier.

RIf the name display service is available in

your area, the display shows caller names. For further information, please contact your service provider/telephone company.

Missed calls

Handset / Base unit

If a call is not answered, the unit treats it as a missed call. The display shows Missed

call.

Note:

REven when there are unviewed missed calls, Missed calldisappears from the standby display if the following operation is performed by one of the units:

A handset is replaced on the base unit.

Pressing MOFFN on a handset.

Pressing MEXITN on the base unit.

Phonebook name display

When caller information is received and it matches a phone number stored in the phonebook, the stored name in the phonebook is displayed and logged in the caller list.

Talking Caller ID

Handset / Base unit

This feature lets you know who is calling by announcing the caller information.

To use this feature, you must:

subscribe to a Caller ID service of your service provider/telephone company.

turn this feature on (page 35, 37).

store the name and phone number in the phonebook (page 27).

Phonebook name announcement

When caller information is received from your service provider/telephone company and it matches a phone number stored in the phonebook, the stored name is announced following every ring.

If that phone number has not been stored in the phonebook, the caller information is announced.

Note:

RThe unit announces in English only.

RName pronunciation may vary. This feature may not pronounce all names correctly.

RThe announcement is heard at the same level as the ringer volume (page 19, 25, 34, 37).

RDepending on the number of rings setting (page 53), the answering system may answer calls before announcing the caller information.

RWhen you receive a call while on the phone, the 2nd caller information is not announced even if you subscribe to both Caller ID and Call Waiting with Caller ID services.

Ringer ID for handset

You can select the desired ringer tone to a group that each phonebook entry is assigned
