SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS

Improper installation, adjustment, alteration, service, main- tenance, or use can cause explosion, fire, electric shock, or other occurrences which may injure you or damage your property. Consult qualified installer or service agency for information or assistance. The qualified installer or agency must use only factory-authorized kits or accessories when modifying this product.

Recognize safety information. This is the safety-alert sym- bol (). When you see this symbol on the unit and in instruc- tions or manuals, be alert to the potential for personal injury.

Understand the signal words — DANGER, WARNING, and CAUTION. These words are used with the safety-alert symbol. Danger identifies the most serious hazards which will result in severe personal injury or death. Warning indicates a condition that could result in personal injury. Caution is used to identify unsafe practices which would result in minor personal injury or product and property damage.

Installing, starting up, and servicing this equipment can be hazardous due to system pressures, electrical components and equipment location (elevated structures, etc.).

Only trained, qualified installers and service mechanics should install, start up, and service this equipment.

Untrained personnel can perform basic maintenance func- tions such as cleaning coils, and cleaning and replacing filters. All other operations should be performed by trained service personnel.

When working on the equipment, observe precautions in the literature and on tags, stickers, and labels attached to the equipment.

Follow all safety codes.

Wear safety glasses and work gloves.

Use care in handling, rigging, and setting bulky equipment.

Be sure all power to equipment is shut off before perform- ing maintenance or service. More than one disconnect may be present. Failure to do so may result in personal injury or damage to the unit.

PRE-INSTALLATION

1.The power supply (v, ph, and Hz) must correspond to that specified on unit rating plate.

2.The electrical supply provided by the utility must be suf- ficient to handle load imposed by this unit.

3.Refer to Installation, General section (page 2) and Fig. 1A-1C for locations of electrical inlets, condensate drain, duct connections, and required clearances before setting unit in place.

4.This installation must conform with local building codes and with the NEC (National Electrical Code) or ANSI (American National Standards Institute)/NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) latest revision. Refer to provincial and local plumbing or wastewater codes and other applicable local codes.
