Adjusting the speaker levels

The test tones help to make the volume adjustments of the different speakers. When levels are equal, a strong sense of presence can be heard from the different speakers at the listening position.

Avoid stopping, pausing, switching the disc, cueing, fast- forwarding or switching the audio channel of this unit while making this adjustment. The setting is canceled if the decode mode is switched.

1Turn the Rotary encoder to select OUTPUT LEVEL.

2Press 1 (AUTO).

Test tone output is repeated for each of the different speaker channels. They will be repeated in the order shown below.

If no operation is performed for 2 seconds, the channel

switches to the next channel.

3While the test tones are being produced from the speakers, press 2 (LEVEL ; DN) or 3 (LEVEL UP :) to adjust so that the volume of the different speakers is equal.

The adjustment range for the different speakers is

–10 dB - +10 dB.

Adjust based on the front speakers.

If a speaker is set to off mode, that speaker’s level adjustment cannot be made.

Refer to “Speaker Setup” (page 48).

Adjusting the DVD Level

The volume (signal level) for Dolby Digital, Dolby PL II, DTS and PCM modes can be set.

Avoid stopping, pausing, switching the disc, cueing, fast- forwarding or switching the audio channel of this unit while making this adjustment. The setting is canceled if the Decode mode is switched.

1 Check that Defeat mode is off.

2 Press SOURCE/POWER.

The main menu is displayed.

3 Press 4 (A.PROC).

The A.PROC (Audio processor) list display appears.

4 Turn the Rotary encoder to select “DVD LEVEL.” 5 Press 1 (SETUP).

The DVD LEVEL list display appears.

6 Turn the Rotary encoder to select a mode to be adjusted.

7 Press 1 (LEVEL ;DN) or 2 (LEVEL UP :) to

adjust the level.

The level can be adjusted in the range of –5 to +5.

Storing Settings in the Memory

Adjustment or setting contents can be stored.

Contents that can be stored vary depends on the audio processor used.

1 Check that Defeat mode is off.

2 Press SOURCE/POWER.

The main menu is displayed.

3 Press 4 (A.PROC).

The A.PROC (Audio processor) list display appears.

4 Turn the Rotary encoder to select “PRESET MEMORY.”

The Function Guide changes.

5 Press one of 1 (P.SET1) to 6 (P.SET6) for more than 2 seconds.

The setting contents are stored.

The stored contents will not be deleted even when the battery power cord is detached.

Getting out the Preset Memory

1 Check that Defeat mode is off.

2 Press SOURCE/POWER.

The main menu is displayed.

3 Press 4 (A.PROC).

The A.PROC (Audio processor) list display appears.

4 Turn the Rotary encoder to select “PRESET MEMORY.”

The Function Guide changes.

5 Press one of 1 (P.SET1) to 6 (P.SET6) to select the preset memory you want to get out.

It takes a few moment to get out the preset memory.
