Configuring the Network Management Interface

Connect the InfraStruXure PDU to your network

1.Connect a Cat-5 network cable to the surge-protected ethernet port on the PDU user connection plate.

You can make connections from

inside the enclosure, or you can remove the user connection plate

and make your connections. Remove the plate using a Phillips or standard screwdriver to loosen

the two captive screws. Use the knockout in the plate to route cables to and from the user connections on the plate. If you remove the plate, make sure that you do not disturb the existing connections.

2.Run the connected Cat-5 network cable through the knockout in the user connection plate to your network connection.

3.Configure the TCP/IP settings of the InfraStruXure PDU. See “Configuration Overview” on this page for further instructions.

Configuration Overview

You must configure the following TCP/IP settings before the InfraStruXure PDU can operate on a network:

IP address of the InfraStruXure PDU

Subnet mask

Default gateway

If a default gateway is unavailable, use the IP address of a computer that is located on the same subnet as the InfraStruXure PDU and that is usually running. The

Note InfraStruXure PDU uses the default gateway to test the network when traffic is very light. See “Watchdog Features” in the “Introduction” of the InfraStruXure PDU’s

online Network Management User’s Guide for more information about the watchdog role of the default gateway.
