Research In Motion recommends that you regularly create and save a backup file on your computer, especially before you
update any software. Maintaining a current backup file on your computer might allow you to recover smartphone data if
your smartphone is lost, stolen, or corrupted by an unforeseen issue.
My smartphone isn't ringing or vibrating when I
receive a call or message
Try the following actions:
On the home screen, click your Sound and Alert Profiles icon. Verify that your profile isn't set to All Alerts Off or Silent.
If you have created contact alerts, on the home screen, click your Sound and Alert Profiles icon. Click Change Sounds
and Alerts > Sounds for Contacts. Click a contact alert. Click Phone or Messages. Verify that the Volume field isn't set
to Silent and that the Vibration field isn't set to Off.
The screen turns off
When you don't use your BlackBerry smartphone for a period of time, the screen turns off to conserve battery power. You
can change the length of time that the backlight stays on when you aren't touching your smartphone.
To turn on the screen, click the trackpad or press a key.
