TROUBLESHOOTING AND ROUTINE MAINTENANCE 11 - 20
Packing and shipping the MFC
Whenever you transport the MFC, use the packing materials tha t
came with your MFC. If you do not pack the MFC pro perly, you could
void your warranty.
Caution
It is important to allow the MFC to ‘park’ the print head after a print
job. Listen carefully to the MFC before disconnecting it from the
power source to ensure that a ll mechanical noise has stopped. Not
allowing the MFC to complete thi s parking process may lead to print
problems and possible damag e to the print head.
1
Lift the scanner cover from the right-hand side of the MFC until
it locks securely into t he open position.
2
Remove all the ink cartridges and attach the protective parts.
(See Replacing the ink cartridges on page 11-25.)
Caution
If you are not able to find the protective parts, do NOT remove the ink
cartridges before shipp ing. It is essential that the MFC be shipped
with either the protecti ve parts or the ink cartridges in position.
Shipping without them will cause damage to your MFC and may void
your warranty.
When attaching the protective parts,
make sure it clips into place as shown in the diagram.
