Operation from extension telephones

If you answer a fax call on an e xtension telephone, or an exte rnal
telephone in the EXT. jack of the MFC, you can make your MFC take
the call by using the Fax Receive Code. When you press the Fax
Receive Code 51, the MFC starts to receive a fax. (See Easy
Receive on page 4-4.)
If the MFC answers a voice call and pseudo/double-rings for you to
take over, use the Telephone Answer Code #51 to take the call at an
extension phone. (See Setting the F/T Ring Time (Fax/Tel mode
only) on page 4-3.)
If you answer a call an d no one is on the lin e, you should assume that
you’re receiving a manual fax.
Press 51 and wait for the chirp or until the MFC’s LCD displays
Receiving, and then hang up.
Your caller will have to press Start to send the fax.

Fax/Tel mode when power key is On

When the MFC is in Fax/Tel mode, it will use the F/T Ring Time
(pseudo/double-ringi ng) to alert you to pick up a voice cal l.
If you are at an extension phone, you’ll need to lift the handset during
the F/T Ring Time and then pr ess #51 between the pseudo/double
rings. If no one is on the line, or if someo ne wants to send you a fax,
send the call back to the MF C by pressing 51.

Fax/Tel mode when power key is Of f

Fax/Tel mode does not work when the power button is of f. The MFC
will not answer telephone or fax calls and will keep ringing. If you are
at an external or extension phone, lift the handset of the ext ension
phone and talk. If you hear fax tones, hold the handset until Easy
Receive activates your MFC. If the other party says they want to
send you a fax, activate the MFC by pressing 51.
