To configure the GigaNIX adapter for use with the AppleTalk protocol, you will need to tell your system which slot contains the Gigabit adapter.

Step 2 Select the Connect Via: window and drag the cursor to the slot that contains the Gigabit adapter and release. Close the panel to save your changes.

Your GigaNIX Gigabit Ethernet adapter is now ready to connect to the network. Refer to the next section for instructions on how to configure your adapter for use with TCP/IP.

3.3Configuring the GigaNIX 1000TA for TCP/IP

The TCP/IP protocol is to access many servers, including AppleShare IP Servers and servers found on the Internet. Configuring your G3/G4 the GigaNIX Gigabit Ethernet adapter for use with the TCP/IP protocol is accomplished using the TCP/IP Control Panel. The default setting is for the system to be configured Using DHCP Server. Before attempting to configure your adapter for TCP/IP, you will need to know whether your system will be using a static IP address (one that is configured manually by the user) or obtained from an outside source such as a DHCP server. You may obtain this information from your Systems Administrator or MIS department.
