• Adjust the zoom before you start the procedure.

1Open the manual focus screen.

[FUNC.] 8[X Focus]

2Touch a subject that appears inside the X frame.

The Touch AF mark (P) will flash and the focusing distance will be adjusted automatically. You have the option to further adjust the focus manually as necessary.

You can touch [2] instead to adjust the focus manually without activating the Touch AF function.

The manual focus controls and an estimate of the current focusing distance appear.

Touch [2] again to return the camcorder to autofocus.

3Touch and hold [l] or [W] to adjust the focus.

The center of the screen will be magnified to help you focus more easily. You can also turn off this function with the 78[Focus Assistance] setting.

The focusing distance displayed will change as you adjust the focus. You can change the units used for the distance display with the 68[Distance Units] setting.

If you wish to focus on faraway subjects such as mountains or fireworks, touch and hold [l] until the focusing distance changes to

V.

4Touch [a] to lock the focus at the selected distance. During manual focus, [MF] will appear on the screen.
