zThe larger the aperture value the smaller the lens opening,
allowing less light to enter th e camera.
zYou can change the comb inations of shutt er speeds and apert ure
values without altering the expo sure (p. 85).
About Safety Shift/Safety FE
Safety Shift
If you set [Safety Shift] to [On] (p.29) in the Rec. menu w hen the
shooting mode is or and press the shutter button halfway, the
camera automatically changes the shu tter speed or aperture value to
obtain the correct exposure if necessary. The safety shift function
does not work when the flash is on.
Safety FE
If you set [Safety FE] to [On] (p.29) in the Rec. m enu when shooting
with the flash in the , or shooting mode, the camera
automatically changes the shutter sp eed or aperture value when the
flash fires to avoid overexposing and blow ing out the highlights in the
scene.
