3Turn the shooting mode dial to the desired

mode.

zSpeedlite 220EX, 430EX or 580EXII*
- The maximum flash synchro shutter sp eed is 1/250 second.
- The flash will auto matically adjust its out put when [Flash
Adjust] is set to [Auto].
- In mode or when [Flash Adjust] is set to [Manual], the
flash will fire with manual adju stments. Refer to the guide
number noted in the instructions manual for the flash you
are using for aperture value and ISO speed, and set the
appropriate value for the distance from the subject.
- When [Flash Adjust] is set to [Auto] the flash expos ure
compensation can be adjusted. When [Fla sh Adjust] is set
to [Manual], the flash output ca n be adjusted (p. 94).
- In mode or when [Flash Adjust] is set to [Manual], the
output of an externally mounted flash can be adjusted in
the flash output adjustment screen (p.94). Whe n a
Speedlite 430EX or 580 EX II is mounted on the camera,
you can adjust the flash output from either the flash or the
camera. (The flash set ting overrides th e camera setting
when both are set.) To set it from the flash, you are
recommended to use t he flash’s manual mode. When
using Speed Light 220 EX, adjustment can be made on
the camera only. You can also adjust the fl ash output even
when the camera is set to the E-TT L automatic flash
exposure compensation mode by changing the flash
exposure compensation setting. To shoot with the flash,
you are recommended to set the white balance to the
(Flash) setting.
*You can also use 380E, 420E , 550EX and 580EX.
zOther Canon Flashes
- Since other flashes fir e at full strength, set th e shutter
speed and aperture accordingly. You are recommended to
set the white balance t o (Flash) to shoot.
