Advanced Shooting Functions

The AF frame indicates t he area of the comp osition on which th e

camera focuses.

You can set the AF frame in the following wa ys.

Selecting an AF Frame

Shooting Mode

*Cannot be set in mode.

Face

Detect

You can have the camera automatically

detect the position of a face and use this

data to set the focus and exposure* wh ile

shooting. In addition, the camera will

meter the subject so that the face is

correctly illuminated when the flash fires*.

If a face is not detected, images will be

shot using the [Center] op tion.

* Exposure and flash are set only in evaluative

metering mode (p.78).

Center

The camera focuses using the center AF

frame. This is convenient for ensuring

that your intended subject is in focus and

for composing images. AF frame position

can be moved (p.71).
