Using the Mode Dial
You can freely select camera setti ngs such as the shutter sp eed
and aperture value to suit your s hooting purposes. After se ttings
are made, shooting proc edures are the same as for “
Shooting (Auto Mode)” ( Basic Guide p.11).

Program AE

Use the program AE mode to have the camera au tomatically set the
shutter speed and aperture value to match the brightness of the
scene.
zWhen a correct exposure cannot be obtained, the shutter speed
and aperture values are shown in red on the LCD monitor when
the button is pressed halfway. Use the foll owing shooting
methods to obtain the correct exposure and make them show in
white.
- Use the flash (raise the flash).
- Adjust the IS O Speed.
- Set the Auto ISO Shif t to [On] (p. 81).

zFor information on the relation between the aperture value
and shutter speed see p.65.
zPlease note that camera shake become s a factor at low
shutter speeds and with larger aperture values. If
(camera shake warning) a ppears in the LCD monitor (or
viewfinder), try the f ollowing steps to re solve the problem .
- Use the (image stabilizer) function.
- Raise the ISO s peed.
- Set the Auto ISO Shift to [On] (p. 81).
- Raise the flash to fire.
- Use a tripod.
